Canaccord Wealth has launched a new wealth planning service in Guernsey, making it the only firm licenced on the island to offer investment management and wealth planning under one roof.

The launch follows Canaccord’s acquisition of Brooks Macdonald International, which brings a team of experienced wealth planners and responds to growing demand from individuals seeking clarity and control over their financial futures at key stages of their lives.

Relocation to Guernsey is a theme the team are currently dealing with, particularly in light of uncertainty around the UK tax landscape. Canaccord’s wealth planning service specialises in retirement planning, pension consolidation, financial protection and cashflow modelling.

Leading the new offering is James Hollowell, who brings over 35 years’ experience in financial services. James previously worked with Brooks Macdonald International, supporting both private clients and intermediaries. James is now Head of Canaccord’s wealth planning team in Guernsey, which includes Emily Martel and Emma Yau, both seasoned professionals with deep expertise in wealth planning and private banking.

Emily Martel is a Chartered Wealth Manager and has 15 years’ experience in financial services; winning the nationally recognised CISI Financial Planning Future Leaders Award in 2023.

Emma Yau is a Wealth Planner who also brings more than 15 years of experience in financial services and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Chris Colclough, Head of Canaccord Wealth’s Guernsey office, said:

“We know there’s a significant financial advice gap in Guernsey, and we’re proud to be the only firm offering a truly integrated wealth management proposition bringing together wealth planning, portfolio management and stockbroking services. With growing uncertainty around UK tax policy, we’re seeing more people exploring moving to Guernsey. Our wealth planning team is ideally placed to help support both the planning, transition and the long-term management of clients’ assets in Guernsey.”
