How it works

Introductory call

15-30 minutes

In our first call, we’ll focus on getting to know you and what you’d like to achieve with wealth planning. By understanding your current situation, hopes for the future, and ambitions for your wealth, we can start to build up a picture of where we can add the most value for you.

There’s no need to fill in any lengthy paperwork ahead of the call, no cost, and no obligation to continue if you feel it’s not a good fit.

Initial consultation

Your initial face-to-face consultation is all about the beginning of your personal wealth plan. This will take all your financial needs into consideration, from tax strategies to investment management. We’ll discuss the things you’re planning for in greater depth, as well as potential strategies to help achieve them.

This might involve cash flow modelling, where we build a picture of your finances by assessing your current and forecasted wealth. This can help us identify if there are any areas that can be improved, or if there are changes that need to be made to maintain or reach your desired lifestyle.

Proposal presentation

Now that we have a very detailed understanding of your situation, we can suggest improvements. These can be recommendations on where you may want to invest your money to better prepare for retirement, or how to reduce your inheritance tax liability.

Again, using cash flow modelling, we can demonstrate the impact your wealth plan could have on your finances. We’ll then show you how to prepare for certain scenarios and become more financially resilient. This can help you prepare in the event of economic uncertainty or a significant outgoing like long-term care.

With you for the long term

Ongoing

Over time, you and your priorities will likely change. With regular reviews, we can make sure your plan adapts with you – continuing to take account of your needs, circumstances, and any other life updates you may have. We ensure you have a plan, and a partnership with us, that lasts you for life.

Common questions on wealth planning

Whereas financial planning (also known as wealth planning) focuses on creating a roadmap – or plan - to meet specific life goals, wealth management is broader. As well as budgeting, saving, and planning for your retirement, your estate and later life care, wealth management also includes tax-efficient investment management strategies combined with day-to-day portfolio management.

Very few people have the time or tools available to take an in-depth look at their finances and understand all the strategies and products that could help them grow or preserve their money – especially if their financial set up stretches across lots of different assets. A Wealth Planner can do all this for you, bringing all of your finances together to maximise your wealth for the future.

Independent wealth planning is when a Wealth Planner isn’t tied to any financial product or service. That’s a real advantage, because it means you can be confident they’re recommending a certain investment or service because they genuinely believe it is the best in the market for your needs – and not because they are incentivised or obligated to recommend it.

All Canaccord Wealth Planners are independent for this very reason and aren’t even tied to our own products. They’re free to find and bring you the best advice possible.

Important information

Investment involves risk. The value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount originally invested. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

The tax treatment of all investments depends upon individual circumstances and the levels and basis of taxation may change in the future. Investors should discuss their financial arrangements with their own tax adviser before investing.
