Spring market update webinar with Tom Becket and Richard Champion

In our spring webinar, we reviewed recent market developments and reaffirmed our overall investment outlook for the year ahead. Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and periods of volatility, our core views remain largely unchanged since the start of the year, with resilient economic momentum - particularly in the US - and continued strength in corporate earnings.

Looking ahead, we continue to expect a backdrop of solid but unspectacular growth, with recession avoided and interest rate cuts still anticipated later in the year. Equity markets have remained resilient, supported by earnings and improving valuations in several regions, while fixed income has become more attractive following recent repricing. The key message remains that a balanced, flexible and diversified approach is essential in navigating an evolving global landscape.

Key takeaways

  • Core investment outlook remains broadly unchanged despite recent volatility
  • The US economy continues to show resilience
  • Interest rate cuts still expected towards the end of the year
  • Equities have rebounded strongly, supported by earnings and improving valuations
  • Fixed income has become more attractive following recent repricing
  • Diversification, balance and flexibility remain key in navigating uncertainty.
